An underground human organ trafficking ring had sold 51 kidneys within 9 months from their kidney trade base in a rented villa in suburb of Beijing. The suspects include organ traders, doctors and even dean from big public hospitals.

Beijing court has postponed the court hearing concerning an underground organ trafficking ring when one of the suspect got sick and hospitalized. The human organ trafficking organization had sold 51 kidneys within 9 months from their base of selling kidneys in a rented villa in suburb of Beijing. As much as 10.34 million RMB of profit had been earned. The suspects include organ traders, doctors and even dean from big public hospitals. The court trial had been sheduled to open on the morning of October 26, but has to be postponed when a suspect suddenly got sick and hospitalized.

On the morning of Friday October 26, 2012, families of the 20 plus suspects waited in line in front of the People's Court of Haidian Disctrict in Beijing. At around 10:50, a secretary of the court came out and convened the lawyers of the suspects and told them the court hearing was postponed because one of the suspects got sudden acute diseases.

According to the prosecution, the prime suspects Zheng Wei, Zhou Peng had profited a lot by doing human organ trafficking business in their rented two villas and Huohua Community Medical Center of Quanshan District of Xuzhou City. Zheng Wei was arrested on October 12, 2010 and ten months later Zhou Peng voluntarily surrendered himself on October 26, 2011. It has been confirmed that Zhou Wei and his organization had earned 10.34 million through selling 51 human kidneys.

Bought at the price of 25000 RMB from donors and sold at 220000 to receptors

42 years old Zheng Wei started the human organ trade in end of 2007 when he searched for kidney donor for one of his relatives and found kidney trade business was very profitable. He earned 400,000 RMB within several months before March 2008. Then he stopped for a while and picked up the selling kidney business in 2010 and he made 1 million RMB before arrested. Averagely he made 30000 RMB per kidney trade.

According to a kidney donor surnamed Zhang, he sold one of his kidneys at the price of 25000 RMB due to urgent lack of money. His kidney was sold to the patient surnamed Wang at the price of 220000 RMB and the 10 times huge price disparity fell in the pockets of Zheng Wei's kidney trade organization as profit.

Four doctors from county-level public hospitals were members of the kidney trade ring

Before each surgery, Zheng Wei would notify Zhou Peng to ask doctors from other cities of China to fly to Beijing. The doctors would be fetched by girl friend of Zheng Wei to their villa to do the surgery. Averagely 3 to 6 kidneys would be removed from donors and transplanted to receptors per time and after surgery the doctors would fly away from Beijing in the evening.

According to the prosecution, 4 of the 15 suspects were doctors from regular public hospitals. And the suspect Yang Guozhong was vice dean of the Second People's Hospital of Tongshan District of Xuzhou City (of east China's Jiangsu Province), Fan Haiyan was matron in Xuzhou Ruibo Hospital Combining Chinese and Western Medicine. Before the court hearing, the suspect Zhao Hui died who was a doctor from the same hospital as Yang Guozhong.
