Nanning police solved a housebreaking theft case that took place in February 2012, in which things worth at least 10 million yuan were stolen from one house. Chinese netizens suspect that the house owner was a corrupted official.
June 4, 2012, Nanning - Nanning police solved a housebreaking theft case that took place in February 2012, in which materials worth at least 10 million yuan was stolen from one house. The case has been the largest based on the value of the stolen fortune in a single home.
On February 1, a residential complex on Qingshan Road of Nanning City, capital of southwestern Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region reported a housebreaking theft case. All valuable things including bill notes, jewels, watches were stolen up. Relatives of the house owner estimated goods worth as much as 10 million yuan were stolen. And this estimation was still based on the money paid many years ago. Based on the current marketing price, the house owner thought the goods stolen were worth up to 70 million yuan. And all the goods were sold by the theft at a price as low as 300 thousand yuan.
Police showed to the publc the materials stolen including foreign notes, tens of watches, digital cameras, jewelleries. Chinese netizens suspect that the house owner was a corrupted official, since many of the goods are not worth collecting such as the cameras. The goods were very possibly presented to the house owner as bribes.
