Chinese microbloggers revealed a ‘most hardworking class’ or 'Intravenous drip class'. The students in a high middle school in Hubei collectively had intravenous drip while preparing for the upcoming higher education entrance examination.
May 5, 2012, Wuhan - Recently a group of pictures get national attention, which describe the students in a senior middle school in Hubei Province were collectively treated with intravenous drip while going over lessons in classroom.
The pictures are so startling to many netizens and some quickly dub the class as the most hardworking class and intravenous drip class. Some netizens express their sympathy for the students, "The students are too hardworking! But considering the fierce competition in the upcoming Gao Kao, they have no choice“, a netizen wrote. Another netizen, 边云锦witHu commented,“This is surely the Xiaogan First Middle School. The students are injected out of their own volition. This scene happens at this time every year. When I was in the last year in high school I had also intravenous drip.”
The faculty of Xiaogan First Middle School explain that the students were replenished with amino acid to enhance their physique. But to save precious time for the students from commuting from hospital and classroom, the school decided to arrange the students to have intravenous drip in classroom.
Higher education entrance examination or Gao Kao
The Chinese National Higher Education Entrance Examination, or National College Entrance Examination, or commonly known as Gao Kao (高考), is an academic examination held annually in mainland China. This examination is a prerequisite for entrance into almost all higher education institutions at the undergraduate level. It is usually taken by students in their last year of high school. For 2012, the Gao Kao is scheduled to take place from June 7 to June 9.
