In the fake picture, a group of well dressed, tall and potbellied, and floating officials led by the vice mayor of Ningguo county were looking down at a wizened 100-year-old lady sitting huddled up in a corner.

An apparently photoshopped picture portraying civil affairs officials of Ningguo county, Anhui province visit poor old folk draws nationwide outrage and mockery.

An apparently photoshopped picture portraying vice mayor and other officials visit a poor 100-year-old woman on the official civil affairs website of Ningguo county, Anhui province in east China, has drawn nationwide attention, Chinanews.com reports.

A reporter visited the official website of Civil Affairs of Ningguo County and found one of the pictures portraying county officials visit poor old citizens are apparently fake.

In the fake picture, officials led by the vice mayor of Ningguo county are magnified and floating while the old lady sits huddled up in a corner.

An office clerk working at the civil affairs department of Ningguo county did not answer the question of the reporter.

As of 22:00 Beijing time, the webpage is not accessible and supposed to be deleted.

The picture was dug out only accidentally by some netizens who have been unhappy to know that officials in the civil affairs department of Ningguo ordered a netizen-sponsored donation campaign for three poor local residents be cancelled because the officials thought the donation campaign was unfair for other residents in difficulty.

It is not the first time Chinese officials use photoshopped pictures to portray their care of the people, but this fake picture from Ningguo county appears to be made with least professional photoshop skills.

"The leaders are too busy to be present at publicity stunt", commented a 163.com user.

"Isn’t it kind of spreading rumors?" commented another netizen referring to China’s crackdown on “online rumour mongers”.

"We see the floating officials again, but can you be a little more professional in Photoshop skills?" mocked a netizen.
