Fake brand signs H&N for H&M, Zare for Zara, Hugo BGSS for Hugo BOSS, SFFCCCKS for Starbucks, and Appla for Apply, were all removed from the 'Shanzhai Street' in Wuxi.

All the seven counterfeit brand signs have been removed from the street of fakes in Wuxi, Jiangsu province.

It appears Wuxi does not like the title of "Street of Fakes" or "Shanzhai Street". Days after the shopping street that was lined with a cornucopia of counterfeit brands from H&N, Zare, Hugo BGSS, SFFCCCKS coffee, Appla, to 中国中商银行 (ICBC knock-off) got domestic and international media coverage, all the seven fake signs have been removed as of Monday, January 13th, according to Chinadaily.

The shops are part of the Shimao Skyscrape commercial and residential complex in the vicinity of the bustling high-speed railway station in Wuxi city, Jiangsu province. Real estate representatives for the commercial properties told reporters on January 10th that the signs were “pre-made advertising images designed to create a shopping atmosphere” and appeal to potential property buyers.

But even though, it does not mean they are legal, as Zhao Jia, a local lawyer said:

The real estate operators in charge are engaging in misleading behaviour and should stop this infringement.
