Quilt advertisement on streets of Shanghai in 1948. Shanghai was the biggest city and commercial center in far east in 1930s and 1940s. In late 1949, Chinese communist party occupied Shanghai and in subsequent years nationalized all private and foreign companies and stores as well as cleared most advertisements from Shanghai streets.
