China's Hawaii Sanya in Hainan Province

Dubbed as China's Hawaii, Sanya (Chinese: 三亚), located in southern Hainan province of China, is a noted tourist resort with mountains, sea, beach, river and city. Sanya is also the southernmost city in China.

Sanya (Chinese: 三亚) is a city in southern Hainan province of China. After the capital, Haikou, it is the second most populous city of the island. It is the southernmost city in China. Sanya is a noted tourist resort with mountains, sea, river and city. The favorable climate is hot in summer but warm in the three other seasons so attracting large numbers of followers from both home and abroad every year.

Sanya is situated on the southernmost tip of Hainan Province, lying between 1809′ and 1837′ latitude giving it the tropical monsoon climate of this region. The whole of Sanya is related to the sea.

Dubbed as "China's Hawaii", Sanya has 20km long stretches of beach. As the only tropical city across the coastline, it is definitely booming and packed with a lot of water sports such as snorkeling and jet-skiing, rainforest hiking, and innumerable hotels ranging from zero to five stars.

Here you can enjoy a unique tropical oceanic landscape that is totally different from the other provinces of China. Sanya Bay, Dadonghai and Yalong Bay are some of the first choices for visitors to spend their holidays.

With sunshine all year around, temperatures hover around 25*C even in January and 30*C in the summer time. Its islands and beaches are beautiful and the water in Yalong Bay and Dadonghai are clean enough to have a good swim, but you may also want to head to Wuzhizhou Island (蜈支洲岛)or further north to visit unspoiled and natural scenery.

Instead of a busy and exhausting journey, you can relax totally here by strolling along the beaches and breathing the fresh air. If you are an enthusiast of exciting water activities, Wuzhizhou Island is your place to challenge the mysterious and changing sea.

Popular turist attractions

Sanya city - filled with souvenir shops and street grills at night. Cross the Sanya River (三亚河 Sānyà hé) to reach a less touristy, cheaper, and more fun part of town.

Tianya and Haijiao (天涯海角; The End of Earth and The Corner of SeaT) - There is nothing to see but a few rocks in the sea with Chinese characters. The beach itself is not really beautiful, but famously alluded to by various ancient Chinese writers.

Sanya Bay Beach (三亚湾海滩) - stretches for around 25 kilometers, but is rather polluted and devoid of swimmers. It is lined with seafood restaurants and hotels.

Dadong Hai (大东海 Dàdōng hǎi) - has Sanya's best balance between development and natural beauty. The town behind Dadong Hai has good restaurants and a gorgeous beach.

Yalong Bay (亚龙湾 Yàlóng wān) - a 7.5 kilometres (4.7 mi) major tourist beach located east of Sanya City. It is farther from Sanya city than Dadong Hai beach and has been developed into an international holiday center with multiple 5 star resorts, golf etc.

Nanshan Temple (Chinese: 南山寺) is a Buddhist temple located in Sanya. The temple was built on April 12, 1988 to commemorate two thousand years of Buddhism in China. It has a total area of 40,000 square metres. The temple is part of an area known as the Nanshan Buddhism Cultural Zone,classified as a AAAAA scenic area by the China National Tourism Administration. The zone also consist of the Guan Yin of the South Sea of Sanya statute (南山海上观音圣像).
